Nick La

Today, I am going to discuss about a very rich source of inspiration which can positively affect anyone’s creativity. Nick La, who is a Toronto-based freelance web designer and illustrator, is one of the most admirable professionals in his field. He has created some very beautiful illustrations and moreover, he perfectly integrates his artworks in his web-works. And that’s why his websites are not only rich in content, but also world-class in design. You can see his website Web Designer Wall, which is one of the best web design blogs out there, and has a finger-licking design. Here is a screenshot:

I was very lucky to find him one day when I randomly googled ”CSS tricks”, and today his creativity has inspired me to limits. Actually, he was one of those who influenced me to engine-up the Wall of Wonders.

As an expert Photoshopper and artist, he has designed some illustrations that can be tagged ”masterpieces”. You can see (and will be amazed to do so) his portfolio here at his studio-website, N. Design Studio, which has an equally creative profile.

How he works –

He has mentioned that he likes to work outside and preferably at a café like Starbucks, so that he can easily explore the world around him and find inspiration.
He takes up design-patterns from books in bookstores, clothes in shopping malls, greeting cards in card galleries… Oh wow!
He doesn’t browse the web for inspiration, but browses the world! He gets inspired from daily life environment, and that adds to his design’s versatility.

He makes sketch on his sketch pad and scans it to his computer, were he traces it in Photoshop and works on it… And the final results are awe-inspiring!
He is a color-lover and uses vibrant colors in the artworks, which can catch you at first sight.

Nick La usually posts about his works, web design and illustration on his studio and portfolio, N. Design Studio.

He operates Web Designer Wall where he shares great web building techniques and trends generally on HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Java. He also provides tutorials to Photoshop and the design-process of his illustrations.

He also constructs cool WordPress themes at Themify, and gives stock icons at Icon Dock.

He also puts on display some lovable sites over the internet at Best Web Gallery.

What he has achieved –

There is probably everything he has got: Blog earnings, popularity, fame, name and a whole lot of fans… Expertise and experience too! He has spoken at Future of Web Design NYC (2008 & 2010), WordCamp Toronto 2009, Frontend 2010 (Oslo, Norway) & Mad in Spain 2011 (Madrid) and his works have been featured on many magazines and galleries. Now who doesn’t want that?

And yes, each of his works speaks of his hard work by itself.
I always find him inspiring and hence, thought to feature him here… His most inspiring works influence you to bring excellence and art in whatever you do.
