If you are a regular reader of my blog, you probably know that I am learning software programming and stuff. Most people who know me take me as a nerd because of a number of reasons: I am good in studies, I type even my blog posts in IDE (it’s where you write program code) and maybe because I often say “Hello” as print(“Hello”) (Is that bad?).
Now don’t judge me too harshly; even a guy like me has creative hobbies – one of them is art, drawing & painting – and that’s what Wall of Wonders is all about. So why not today I share with you all, the top five reasons for which I love art so much!
5. It prompts you to take up the challenge
Creating an admirable work of art is not that easy. Giving shape and colors to what is on your mind – it’s a challenge you have to accomplish. Every artist takes this challenge up and proceeds through the adventurous journey of creating the artwork he always wanted to relish.
4. You learn to observe minutely
Many artists draw inspiration from their surroundings – designs, color-combinations or subjects. So, art makes you look at the world differently. You tend to see things which you could never see before, even if they were always present just there!
3. You forget your worries
Believe it or not, the moment you indulge deep into your artwork your thoughts change, your emotions change and the universe changes around you. Your worries are ghosts, man! You are the creator – the God of the world which you are building on the blank, white sheet in front of you.
2. You cross the barrier of language and culture
“If you could say it in words there would be no reason to paint.”
~ Edward Hopper
Art is one of the most efficient media to share ideas and information. Through art, you can show your dreams to the world, which you cannot express in words. Art is a universal language, like smile – cultures and languages pose no barrier to it.
1. You can be proud of yourself
The feeling of creating something good is beyond explanation. Adoring that artwork you completed this weekend is a great way to build self esteem. What more? You can show it to people, impress your friends, post it on your blog just like I do and see what your readers have to say.
The moments shared between you and your art are awesome moments. Remember, if it feels like you make art, you are an artist!
0. You don’t always have to follow the rules – Oh, I just demonstrated that!
There are good artists who just work without a plan. Or artists who manage to make something brilliant even if the “plan” fails. Sometimes, even a mistake made while painting may lead to the creation of your next masterpiece… So we don’t care much about regulations and protocols in art. Just one thing is necessary – it should be fun.
Creator or spectator, art intrigues all of us. What are your views about art and creativity? Don’t forget to mention them in comments.
