It has been years since I set foot in the blogging world and I still find it equally interesting and lovable. In fact, I consider blogging to be one of the most productive tasks I do online. I started Wall of Wonders in 2012 and since then, this blog has flourished and has taken me along in its growth.
Whether you post regularly or randomly, with research or just freshly out of your mind, blogging can be a really fruitful penchant for you! So here are the top 5 reasons why I love blogging so much and why you should start your own blog right now.
5. Freedom to express your thoughts to the whole world, from anywhere at any time (and that too for free)
“For what good is freedom of expression if you lack the means to express yourself?”
~ Roy Peter Clark
You have an idea, a piece or art, or a video that you want to share with the world. If you own a blog, you just need to open your laptop and start typing! Your posts can be seen by people from all over the globe. With likes and shares on social media, sky is the limit for your content’s reach.
What’s more cheerful is that many blogging platforms provide services for free! (See: The 12 best free blogging platforms on Creative Bloq)
4. Fame & appreciation
Blogging can given you so much confidence in many ways. A blog is the showcase of ideas. Seeing it being appreciated by others is really a proud feeling. Moreover, it leads to a great boost in self-esteem.
3. Meeting new people, understanding the world
If you write a blog, there is a good chance that you read some blogs too… Some way or the other, you get “involved”. You interact with a community which has people from different nations, races, cultures, colors and classes – a community you won’t find that easily anywhere else.
Love thy blogging community! You learn so much from them, even if you don’t notice. Gradually, this exploration makes you understand how the world functions, and how different parts of the world function differently.
2. Cultivating a hobby, maintaining a personal account of your journey
“No man is really happy or safe without a hobby…”
~ William Osler
Having a creative hobby not only passes time well but also contributes in personal growth. And blogging is an amalgamation of many creative activities – writing, researching, brainstorming, designing, and so on. You can blog about your hobbies or just have blogging itself as a hobby.
A blog gives you something to look back at when you want to see where you’ve been some years ago. And who knows, there may be a whole lot of people out there wanting to read about you and your experiences!
1. The reader – you!
Let’s face it, readership is the driving force for anyone to write a blog. I mean, not many people would be motivated to write a blog if no one was there to read it. With good content coming up, your blog will definitely attract attention. In the end, it is the interest of the readers which defines the success of a blog (which is why I must thank you for being here with all my heart ❤ ).
Sure, there is a multitude of more reasons why people blog, such as earning money form the blog (which I currently don’t do), comparing the cuteness of cats and dogs (which I currently don’t care about), and so on and so forth. Different people use their blogs in so many different ways.
Don’t forget to mention your own views about blogging and the reasons you like (or don’t like) to blog in the comments.
An excellent list. I began as a diary and a way of recording my life for children and grandchildren. I was amazed at the real friends I have made from all over the world
Yes. The community is one very intriguing aspect of blogging. 🙂
I too appreciate the reasons you have mentioned. Most importantly, for me it is a learning platform..and never did think that it can be a learning platform for me…
I come across new things every day!
Aww… great list! I’ve been blogging for almost 3 years now and LOVE IT. Not only a great outlet, but a fab way to meet new and interesting people (from all walks of life!)
True, there are many benefits of blogging, for everyone. 😀
2 years! And everytime I publish a post, it feels like the first post!☺☺ Great compilation of reasons, definitely resonates with most bloggers!!☺☺
Thanks a lot! I’m glad that you could relate to them. 😀
Completely agree with the above mentioned 5 reasons. I have also started blogging recently to share my thoughts and code with the world. But still can’t find an effective way to set up my blog. I would be glad to have your suggestions.
Very Nice, Crisp and dense information given and also the pointers are justified and very well decoded…. Loved it !
