Merry Christmas, everyone!
Pixel art is where artists specify the location of individual pixels of an artwork, which build up to create intricate effects. (Think about those 8-bit graphics first seen with the release of gaming consoles in the early ’80s.)
Here is a bunch of Christmas cards featuring pixelated design… These cards are no less artistic than the usual ones, and a bit (ha!) cleverer.
Christmas is near and one of the best parts of the festival is a jolly-looking Christmas tree. For the people who want to make the holidays even more special, a DIY Christmas tree is a great project. And it definitely makes your Christmas tree to be one of a kind!
So, here are some really creative and out of the box Xmas tree ideas…
Madrid-based origami master Gonzalo Garcia Calvo is able to transform a flat piece of paper into a lifelike three-dimensional intricate artwork. Calvo’s favorite subject matter seems to be expressive animals, though he has created many other objects as well, including an unbelievable violin.

Edgar Artis is an Armenian fashion illustrator who creates gorgeous dress designs with everyday objects he finds at home. From a dress up made of burnt matchsticks to colorful paper clip garments, Edgar’s ideas give a new perspective to the things we see everyday!

“Dasavatar” is a series of artworks designed by Shajin Paikath (catch him on Behance) which shows the 10 avatars of Lord Vishnu – different incarnations that take the form of divine intervention provided by Vishnu during the various stages of human evolution. The Dasavatar (ten avatars) are meant to re-establish dharma (righteousness) and destroy tyranny and injustice on earth.
These illustrations of the 10 incarnations of Lord Vishnu feature minimal, mindful design leading to splendid results! I am sharing some of the artworks here. (You can see the complete set on Behance.)
Katy Lipscomb is a freelance illustrator living in Georgia, USA. I featured her vivid and beautiful animal artworks in a previous post here. Her works illustrate various animal spirits – many of them forming beautiful pairs! That could be a dragon with a wolf, a couple of snakes, a lion with his cub and so on. She uses watercolors, color pencils and markers. You can find her work on DeviantArt and on Facebook.

Michael Zajkov is a Moscow-based artist who creates such hyper-realistic dolls that often they make people feel uncomfortable! Unlike other dolls out there, Michael Zajkov’s dolls are hand-sculpted and are a fine work of art. These dolls are made from a special type of modeling clay, with beautiful glass eyes, French mohair wigs and numerous joints in them.
Zajkov graduated from Kuban State University of Russia in 2009. From 2010 to 2013 he worked at a puppet theatre while also attending a graduate school. He made his first doll in 2010.
Michael shares the pictures of his startlingly lifelike dolls and sneak previews of their production process on his Instagram page.
Although they are quite eerie, I am sharing some pictures of his dolls here… Tell me in comments if you see any of them blinking! 🙂 Continue reading →
